K League 1 Suwon FC defeats Daejeon 1-0… Lee Seung-woo scores the winner

Suwon FC, ranked 10th in the K League 1, defeated Daejeon Hana Citizen 1-0 thanks to a goal from Lee Seung-woo to accelerate its escape from the relegation zone.

Suwon FC defeated Daejeon 2-0 in the 29th round of the Hana One Q K League 2023 at Daejeon World Cup Stadium on the 1st with Lee Seung-woo’s first-half goal and Kim Hyun’s penalty kick wedge in the second half.

With three ‘fondant-fondant’ wins in their last five matches, 10th-ranked Suwon FC has accumulated 29 points to close the gap on ninth-ranked Jeju United (34 points) to five points in the K League 1 retention zone.

Eighth-place Daejeon (37 points) will have to wait until another time to move into the top half of the table.

Daejeon had the upper hand in the midfield, but Suwon FC, led by Lee Seung-woo, who has been on a hot streak lately, struck first.

In the 32nd minute of the first half, Kim Hyun’s header from a corner kick was slotted home by Lee Seung-woo from the right side of the goal.

After a sluggish first half of the season, Lee has now scored four goals in five games since August, increasing his season tally to seven goals (two assists).

Thanks to Lee’s performance, Suwon FC has now won three and lost two of those five matches.

With the momentum in their favor, Suwon FC had to settle for an early goal in the 39th minute when Lee Kwang-hyuk’s cutback from the right was met by Kim Hyun with a non-stop right-footed shot that was saved by goalkeeper Lee Chang-geun.

Suwon FC had a chance to drive a wedge into the match in the dying minutes when Park Chul-woo won a penalty kick from Anton on the counterattack.

However, Kim Hyun, who took the penalty kick in the 38th minute, failed to score after taking three penalty kicks.

The first rattled the net, but the goal was disallowed after Lee Seung-woo was adjudged to have entered the penalty area prematurely before he could shoot.

His second shot was saved by Lee Chang-geun, who was ruled to have taken his foot off the goal line before the shot was taken, giving Kim another chance.

Kim’s third shot was ridiculously high.

The striker, who hasn’t scored a goal this season, hung his head in shame.

Daejeon threw in more attacking resources in the second half but couldn’t break through the Suwon FC defense, which has conceded the most goals this season (57). 파워볼
