‘First win in 105 days’ Gangwon FC to continue revived attacking instincts

Gangwon FC, which succeeded in ‘breaking the mold’ with its first win in 105 days, will challenge for two consecutive wins and start to improve its position.

Gangwon FC will host Suwon FC in the 27th round of the Hana WonQ K League 2023 at 7 p.m. on the 19th at Gangneung Sports Complex.

Having staged an ‘underdog rebellion’ against league leader Ulsan Hyundai in Round 26, Gangwon FC is determined to make it two consecutive home wins in this match.

Their opponent, Suwon FC, is ranked 10th in the league with 6 W, 5 D, 15 L (23 points). Even if Gangwon (3W11D12L – 20 points) wins this match, they will remain in the same position with the same number of points and no change in the standings due to goal difference, but they will gain a foothold to escape the relegation zone (11th-12th).

They are in desperate need of three points, especially as the last-place Suwon Samsung Bluewings (19 points) could slip back to the bottom of the table if they win their home game against Jeju United on Nov. 18 and Gangwon draw or lose to Suwon FC.

The momentum is in Gangwon’s favor. Not only is it their first win in 105 days, but they have also lost fewer games in their last five matches, with one win, three draws, and one loss.

Suwon FC, on the other hand, has faltered with a 1-4 record, and aside from a 2-0 win over the bottom-ranked Suwon Samsung Bluewings, the team hasn’t scored a single goal in its four losses.

As for Gangwon, the team has been shaken by managerial changes, player injuries, and transfers, and while they have averaged 0.69 goals per game so far, they have conceded 1.15 goals per game, which is better than Suwon FC (1.15 goals scored – 2.07 goals conceded).

If Yoon Jeong-hwan’s sharp attacking style of clogging up the midfield and attacking on the counterattack is used in this match, we can expect a high-scoring affair.

In addition, Suwon FC’s defense is expected to be more stable, as the team has been showing a blunted offensive performance after key striker Rath was suspended for a DUI.

Meanwhile, Gangwon will welcome the fans with a summer event by decorating the three home games in August as a ‘summer vacation’.

The home game, designated as Goseong-gun Day on the 19th, will feature a ‘Welcome Gangwon’ event before the start of the game, with specialty products from Goseong-gun presented to spectators caught on the electronic board. Booths at off-field venues will promote Goseong-gun tourist attractions, specialty products, and the Gangwon World Forest Expo.

Residents of Goseong-gun can receive a 50% discount with their ID.

The MD Store will hold an event to support Gangwon FC’s Brazilian quartet (Gabriel, Galego, Yago, and Wellington). 파워볼사이트
