Manchester United’s plans to bolster their defense have been given the green light.
“The Red Devils, who are looking to bolster their defense, are getting closer and closer to signing Glisson Bremer (26, Juventus),” the Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport reported on Saturday.
United’s results this season have been disappointing. After 27 games in the Premier League, they have 14 wins, two draws, and 11 losses, leaving them in sixth place with 44 points.
Recent form hasn’t been good either. Following last month’s loss to Fulham, the Red Devils have now lost back-to-back league games, including a 1-3 defeat to Manchester City in the 27th round of the league.
Defensive insecurity has been United’s biggest problem. Throughout the season, the center-back options of Lisandro Martinez, Rafael Varane, and Harry Maguire have all been injured at different times and have not been able to find stability.
The need for a new center-back has become a priority for United. With Baran, Victor Lindelof, and Jonny Evans’ futures unclear this summer, the general consensus is that a replacement is a must.
Fortunately, the signing is going well. According to reports, United are close to signing Bremen for a fee of €60 million.
Bremer joined Juventus in 2022 after leaving Turin. The Bianconeri paid a hefty €41 million transfer fee for the player, identifying him as their next defensive 토토 core.
The move paid off. Bremer quickly integrated into the Bianconeri’s defense. He made 43 appearances across all competitions last season and quickly established himself as a key part of the team.
His performances have continued this season. He has started 26 of Juventus’ 27 Serie A matches. Thanks to him, Juventus have conceded just 21 goals, the second fewest in the league.
His chances of joining Manchester United this summer are looking increasingly likely. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, “Juventus are already preparing for next season without Bremner. His replacement will be Riccardo Calafiori (21, Bologna),” according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
