Kyle Walker is still in love with Son Heung-min.
Manchester City drew 3-3 with Tottenham Hotspur in the 14th round of the 2023-24 Premier League (PL) at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester, England, at 1:30 a.m. ET on Thursday. City, who are winless in the league, have slipped to third place.
The captains of the matchup were best friends who met at Tottenham. Son Heung-min and Kyle Walker wore the captain’s armbands for Spurs and City, respectively. In the cold world of competition, the two players were also very friendly.
When the game was interrupted by a foul call, Heung-min approached Walker and started playing with him. If you didn’t know the relationship between the two players, you might think that Son Heung-min was challenging Walker to a fight. However, Walker, who was aware of Son’s playfulness, laughed and hugged him. Heung-min also showed his friendship by patting Walker on the butt.
After the game, which ended 3-3, the two players went back to being friends. After the game, Walker posted a number of photos from the Tottenham game on his personal social media accounts and wrote, “It’s a shame we didn’t get the three points. We’ll be back in action on Wednesday night.” The last photo of the game was a two-shot of Walker and Son Heung-min.
Walker tagged Son Heung-min in a photo of them walking into the stadium together. Son showed his affection by liking Walker’s post.
Walker’s move to City after his stint at Tottenham was not without its challenges. There were rumors that he had issues with manager Mauricio Pochettino. After his move to City, he once angered Tottenham fans by saying, “I went to City because the teams I played for had no idea how to have that winning mentality.”
But his love for Son Heung-min hasn’t changed. Even when Son was struggling in the 2022-23 season, Walker defended him, saying, “He’s a fantastic player. He’s a fantastic player and he’s also one of the nicest people I’ve ever met in football.” Walker defended Son, saying, “He’s a fantastic player.
Walker also reached out to Heung-min when he was in tears after Tottenham lost to Man City in the 2020-21 Football League Cup final. “I hope you give Son a lot of love,” he wrote on his personal social media accounts.
