Tottenham still irrelevant, Man Utd will win in 2033

Predicting the future is always interesting.

On May 5, soccer media outlet 90min shared the results of a Football Manager simulation to predict the English Premier League (EPL) winners for the next 10 years.

The results were surprising. According to the simulation, Liverpool will win this season, 2023-2024. After 11 rounds, the Reds are in third place with 24 points from seven wins, three draws, and one loss. They are three points behind leader Man City (27 points) and two points behind second-place Tottenham (26 points), who have played one game less.

In the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 seasons, City won back-to-back titles, suggesting that the glory days of “Pep City” will continue.

However, from 2026-2027 to 2030-2031, Arsenal would win five consecutive titles, marking the beginning of a new era. The last time Arsenal conquered the EPL was in 2003-2004, when they went undefeated.

Football Manager predicts that Man City will break Arsenal’s losing streak in the 2031-2032 season and that United will return to the top of the EPL in 2032-2033 after a 20-year wait. United, currently in eighth place, last won the title in 2012-2013, the final season of former manager Sir Alex Ferguson’s reign.

Notably absent from the list is the name of Tottenham, the only unbeaten team so far this season. Spurs haven’t won a league title in over half a century, since the 1960-1961 season. For Tottenham fans, the simulation is bittersweet: “Captain” Son Heung-min is out of contract with the club in June 2025.

Earlier, statistics firm Opta also used its own supercomputer to predict the probability of the final 20-team EPL standings, giving 안전놀이터 Tottenham a 2.2% chance of winning the title. They are fourth behind Man City (79.6%), Liverpool (10.7%), and Arsenal (7.0%).

The predictions for United are even bleaker. The Opta supercomputer gives the Red Devils a whopping 14.9% chance of finishing in the top 10, but only a 2.1% chance of breaking into the top four.
