‘PSG debut goal miss’ includes Dembele, ‘goal winner’ excludes Lee Kang-in

Dembele’s goal drought at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has been rewarded with a place in the French Ligue 1 weekly best 11.

European soccer statistics site Fúscore.com announced today (June 6) its Best 11 for the 11th round of the 2023-24 French Ligue 1 season. PSG had two players named to the list after a 3-0 win over Montpellier in the 11th round of the 2023-24 League 1 on April 4 in Paris, France.

Bogar (Nice), Bayo (Le Havre), and Angelo (Strasbourg) were named to the French Ligue 1 Round 11 Best 11 forwards. Midfielders include Golovin (AS Monaco), Albero (Lyon), and Dembele (PSG), while defenders include Luce (Montpellier), Palois (Nantes), Magatha (AS Monaco), and Hakimi (PSG). Diaw (Clermont) was selected in goal.

Wingback Hakimi, who was named to the French Ligue 1 Weekly Top 11, recorded two assists in a clean sheet against Montpellier. Hakimi also assisted on Lee Kang-In’s opening goal against Montpellier. After breaking down the right flank, Hakimi’s low cross was flicked on by Mbappe, and Lee collected it at the edge of the penalty area, where he finished with a powerful right-footed strike.

PSG flanker Dembele, who picked up Emery’s assist against Montpellier, also made the weekly top 11. Dembele has made 10 appearances in Ligue 1 this season, but is yet to score a goal on his PSG debut and has two assists. Dembele has been mentioned as one of the potential competitors for Lee’s position at PSG.

PSG named Hakimi and Dembele to their best 11 for their assists against Montpellier, while Lee, Emery, and Vitinha, who scored the goals, all missed the cut.

Lee scored his French Ligue 1 debut against Montpellier, continuing a run of form from the attacking point in his last three games. Lee scored his PSG debut and UEFA Champions League goal against AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League Group F third leg last month. After setting up Mbappe’s goal in the Ligue 1 10th round against Brest, Lee scored against Montpellier to extend his goal-scoring streak to three games.

PSG coach Luis Enrique said: “He’s a great player. He’s brilliant. He can play on the wing, he can play up front, he can play in central midfield. He knows how to play defensively and he can score goals. He is a very complete player.”

PSG is unbeaten in five French Ligue 1 games and two UEFA Champions League games this season with Lee in the lineup. He has started all five Ligue 1 matches, while coming off the bench in all two UEFA Champions League matches.

PSG will host AC Milan in the fourth leg of their UEFA Champions League Group F tie of the 2023-24 season on Aug. 8, and Lee’s status as a starter is in the 토토 spotlight. French outlet L’Equipe reported on Friday that “Lee has established himself as a regular starter for PSG after his brilliant performance against Montpellier. French media outlet L’Onde suggests that Lee will compete with Vitinha for a starting spot on the left flank midfield if PSG coach Luis Enrique opts for a 4-2-4 formation.
