JAPAN WOMEN’S BASKETBALL’S TOYOTA ‘JUBILANT’ WITH TROPHY AFTER WINNING PARK SHINJA CUP

Japanese women’s basketball team Toyota Antelopes has lifted the trophy at the Park Shinjah Cup international tournament. defeated Asan Woori Bank 72-65 in the final of the tournament at Cheongju Gymnasium in Chungcheongbuk-do on 3 March. Korean women’s basketball legend Park Shin-ja watched the final game in person and then took to the court for the award ceremony .She gave the Toyota players a hearty round of applause before handing the trophy to captain Mai Yamamoto. Holding the trophy in their arms, the Toyota players raised their hands and smiled broadly .When Toyota’s Shiori Yasuma was announced as the tournament’s Most Valuable Player (MVP), the players congratulated her with cheers .After losing to Woori Bank in double overtime in the first game of the group stage, Toyota rebounded with a 72-65 victory over Woori Bank in the final, a “revenge match”.
